OUT.FEST – Festival Internacional de Música Exploratória do Barreiro (Barreiro International Exploratory Music Festival) brings to the city of the South Bank some of the most impacting names in contemporary experimental music. This festival expands all aspects of this musical genre, from improvised music to abstract electronic music, from free-jazz to noise, contemporary classical music and others that enrich electronic music every day.
With its first edition in 2004, OUT.FEST has been an instrument of dynamism in the outskirts of Lisbon with a focus on a more alternative music style. In these almost 20 years of existence, the festival has passed through more than 50 venues in Barreiro in 300 shows, reaching an average of more than 2,000 festival-goers every year.
