Santa Casa Alfama

Spread across one of the capital’s most traditional spots, Santa Casa Alfama has been invading Lisbon since 2013 with excellent Portuguese music. There won’t be a street, square, corner or alley in Alfama where you can’t hear the chords of the Portuguese guitar.

With stages spread throughout the neighbourhood, festival-goers are invited to stroll and stop not only on the outdoor stages but also on stages in such unusual places as churches, companies, sports groups and even lawyers’ offices. On the line-up, the most iconic interpreters of the genre are mixed with the great promises of Fado , and there is even a stage dedicated to the names of the future. Every year, some names from various generations get together to pay tribute to one of the historical names that have already left us. Amália, Carlos do Carmo or Max are some of the singers already honoured at the festival.

Ready to immerse visitors in one of Lisbon’s most traditional environments, Santa Casa Alfama is the festival for those who want to get to know more about Portuguese music and culture while exploring the most traditional Lisbon has to offer.

About the local

Lisbon, built on seven hills, is a city with an unforgettable light and considered the most beautiful in Europe. A city where you can make a bit of everything from seeing historical monuments, visit museums, stroll along the river, drink a ginjinha in downtown, sit down to read a book on a park bench or take a dip in the best beaches of the country.

Its streets, sometimes labyrinthine and sometimes ordered, the typical cobblestone, the tiles facades, the pombalino buildings, the clothes hanged by the window, the baked sardines on bread. All this makes Lisbon undoubtedly a charming town with lots of history around the corner.
