Celebrating its 20th edition in 2024, Santa Maria Blues continues to assert itself within the genre in Portugal. This is the only festival exclusively dedicated to blues in the Azores archipelago.
Taking place at Lugar dos Anjos, Santa Maria Blues offers festival-goers the chance to attend great concerts surrounded by the smell of the sea.
To be announced...
Santa Maria Island, also known as “Sun Island” due to the aridity of the soils and dryness of the vegetation, was the first island of the archipelago to be discovered by Portuguese navigators and, consequently, the first to be populated. Geologically, it was also the first island to form about eight million years ago.
The island is divided in two parts. To the west, the relief is flatter and one can find Vila do Porto (the island's biggest settlement) and the airport. To the east, the relief is more rugged and more luxuriant vegetation can be observed.
√ Climb to Pico Alto, the highest point on the Santa Maria island with an altitude of 590 m
